The chairman of the commission, in releasing the Toster of saies, made the following statement: "At the invitation of the commission representatives of the Woolbuyers' and Woolbrokers' Associations, Wool Board and Wool Disposal Commission, met'to discuss the question of auction saies for the 1947-.48 season and to set up an auction saies advisory committee in terms of the wool disposal .regulations. This committee, which comprises 3 representatives eacli of the Woolbuyers' Association, Woolbrokers' Association and Wool Disposal Commission and two representatives of the Wool Board, h&s the responsibility for advising the commission in regard to the most suitable roster of saies. The roster now published is recommended by the committee and approved by the Minister of Marketing. Accordingly the auction saies of wool now announced are appointed and notified (by the Wool Disposal Commission in terms of the regulations. All interests agreed on the roster with th
exception that the New Zealand Woolbuyers' Association reserved the right to issue its own roster varying the commissions ' roster by the omission of saies set down for Gisborne." The chairman inentioned the impossibility of compiling a roster. to cover required saies during the season at nine sale centres, which would meet all wishes of intefest^ at all the selling centres. The best that could be done was that the committee, in reviewing the representations made on. behalf of particular centres, could decide upon a roster which, in their judgement and in view of all the eircumstances, would inost reasonably meet the needs of the situatioii. Features of the roster now published are that, compared with the roster for the season just closing, the' travelling time for buyers is cut down. Quantities offered at single saies are more in line with'likely market requirements. The commission* appreciates the full cooperation 'it received from ihe Woolbtiyers' and Woolbrokers' Associations and Wool Board. A report issued by the Wool Board savs that the inclusion.in the roster of saies at Gisborne, was supported by the Board."
