Sharp Earthquake Shock A sharp earthquake rocked buildings in Shannon at about 2.7 p.m. yesterday afternoon. No damage has been reported. R.S.A. Parcel Appeal* The secreiary of the Shannon R.S.A. advises that the parcels for Britain appeal fund ' now totals £40 19s 5a. The latest contnbution is £2 2s from Messrs. W. H. Gurmrng and Co., Ltd, Firemen at Snooker . Severai memoers of the otaki Fire Brigade visited Shannon on Saturaay evtning, when a very enjoyable snooker tournamenu was played. Three tables in the local biliiard saloon were hired ' and the firemen tnjoyed uninterrupted play until a iaie hour. A Welcome Cup of Tea For the convenience .of 4 those who attended the cattle fair last week, Mesdames L. H. Best, C. Guerni and A. R. Miiis supplied luncheon and afternoon, -tea on the spot. The most satisfactory proceeds went to swell the funds of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers. Weekend Weather Aiuhough weatner conditions on Saturaay were quite favourable, Sunaay dawned very unseutled. A strong north-westeriy wmd sprang up early in the mornhig ana continued througnout the aay. Heavy rain fell in the evening and during Sunaay nignt. The wrnd veiocity recordea at Shannon on Sunaay averaged about 30 to 33 miies per hour. The heaviest gust was at 10.30 p.m., when it rose to 44 miies per hour.
