PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED

Because S'fhe parish priest of Kenton, Middlesex, England, has a hobby— that of making his own gramophone records — a 22-year-old Irish girl has been given a part in "Captain Boycott," the current Individual Picture which stars Stewart Granger. Fair-haired Rosheen Boland, of Dublin, walked into Father Maurice Becket's study at All Saints' Roman Catholic Church, Kenton, and confessed that she had been praying to her patron saint for a chance to become a film actress. The priest was impressed by the girl's personality and he liked her soft Irish voice. On his homebuilt recording apparatus he made a gramophone record of her voice. Then he took Rosheen and the record to Pinewood Studios, London, where "Captain Boycott" is being made. Father Becket played the record over to Frank Launder, the director of the picture, and Rosheen has just heard that her prayers have been ar(swered — she will be given a small part in the film, with good prospects of further engagements.
