Mr. Richard , Martin, general manager of Vacuum Oil Company Pty., Ltd., accompanied by - Mrs. Martin, left Auckland by1 Pan American Airways on April 29 Gn a business trip to U.S.A. Mr. W. S. McLean will be acting general manager during Mr. Martin's abse'hce. A veteran of the South African campaign of 1899-1901 and a member of the New Zealand force that went to Samoa in World War I, Captain j. A. Algie, of Takapuna,- celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday. Captain Algie was a member of the Takapuna Home Guard during the last war, and stayed the distance an all route marches. Mr. R. M.
