RUGBY ADMINISTRATION

: BNION EXECDXIVE MEETS 'Three representative senior football matches with outside unions were confirmed and three others applied for at a meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union's man,- ' agement committee on Tuesday night. The three definite matches are with Bush on July 5, Wan- v ganui on July 26 and Wellington, on August 30. These games will be played in Horowhenua, It was then decided to write to the Manawatu Rugby yUnion suggesting that home and away games be played as in the past, and that preferably they take place' early in the season., It was also hoped to arrange a game with Wairarapa. Mr. J. Dunlop suggested that th,e union try and arrange a match with Otago, as this team would be travelling during the ^eason and a match with such a team would be invaluable. It was pointed out that the game would probably have fco be played on a week day. The Foxton and Levin Borough Councils wrote approving of the use of Easton Park at Foxton and ihe Levin Park Domain for footOall during the present season. The Foxton Borough Council asked that a representative igame be played in Foxton during the season, It was pointed out that there was no suitable shelter for the spectators at Foxton, and the matter .was left over. Mr." A. Haley, of Levin, was appointed as sole fourth grade selector. It was p'Ointed out that the goal posts on the Levin Park Domain and Shannon Domain were a danger to players. It was resolved to write to the Shannon Club advisi.hg that until the posts were properly padded no games would be allowed to be played there, and to request Athletic to attend to those at Levin. Mr. J, Bateman, Shannon, donated a cup for competition in the fourth grade. The cup will be a pgrpetual challenge trophy. In view of the increasing diffieulties in obtaining suitable whistl'es for referees, it was recommended that the Referees' Association be advised to purchase good whistles, if possible, at the earliest possible opportunity.
