BUCKLEY GOLF CLUB

ANZAC TOURNAMENT The Buckley Golf Club was unfortunate in having most unfavourable weather conditions for its Anzac tournament over the weekend. Heavy rain fell the day before the tournament opened and the links were wet underfoot. However, there was a good attendance of players'on both days, including a number of visitors. On Satufday afternoon a medal round and teams match was played and the winner of the medal was C. Young, while the teams match was won by the Levin team comprising L. Carmichael, H. Walker, T. Coutie and H. D. Richards with a total of 290. Other team scores were as follows: — C., H., W. and J. Stern, 291; Harding, Chambers, Rasmussen and Wilson, 294; F. and V. Picard, R. Downes and H. Karena, 312; Young, H. and V. Pope and Gledhill, 322. On Sunday morning a bogey competition was played and the winner was D. Purcell. In the afternoon a foursome was played and was won by C. and W. Stern. On Saturday next the May medal will be 'the attraction for local golfers at Buckley. The handicap committee advises the following reductions in handicaps after last weekend: C. Young from 20 to 17, E. T. Wilson from 7 to 6, D. Purcell from 23 to 17.
