TE HORO'S APRIL MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Te Horo Women's Institute was held in the Te Horo Hall. There was a good attendance and among the visitors were Mrs. Graves, of Dunedin,, and several members of the Women's Division. Among the institute business was the half-yearly council meeting, to be held in Manakau. Mesdames Masters and Johnson were appointed delegates to attend. The guest speaker for, the afternoon was Mr. Guy. the superintendent of the Levin Farm. He told of the work done for the 100 boys under his care and attention, (and .said that in the near future 'there would be many more boys | and also girls arriving. Accompanying Mr. Guy were two nurses,' j Misses Morton and Jenkinson. i These young ladies gave an interesting outline of their duties and ,'life at the farm. Many questions j were asked and all felt that by I attending they had gained much knowledge, and no doubt will avail themselves of the invitation to visit the farm in the near future. Mrs. Johnson proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the speakers,; and a bouquet was presented to he nurses. Mrs. Sutton and Mrs. Shirnack -.erved a dainty afternoon tea. The monthly competitions resulted: — Best flower in mv garden: Mrs. Mills 1, Mrs. McDonald 2, Mrs. Strom 3. Floating bowl: Mrs. Speirs 1, Mrs. Johnson 2, Mrs. Mills 3. Collccticn of three vege- ' ables : Mrs. Mills 1. Next month's competitions will be something
new from something old, suitable for a parcel to be sent to CORSO, and aiso three flowering shrubs.
