, • DUJN KDliN, April . The fifth and last wool sale of the Dunedin season on Saturday more t'lian realised the expectations of-tho.se wuo had judged the clip to be below the condition of those of p'revious saies. The lower quality of the clip offerea was accounted for by the extreniely clry weather. The sale was eleariy th« most successful of the season. Prices for line wools showed an improvenient of 3d to -id a pound on late saies, line erossbred was lid to 2d better" anu eoarse and medium sorts were firni to a shade better. The increase in values for neclcs and pieees was even niore prunounced. ' . The offlcial report issued by the Dunedin -Stock Agents' and Woolbrokers Association, in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers' Association and. New Zealand Wool' Disposal Commission, states that the sale opened. under keen coinpetition which was maintained throughout the cataiogue. There was a representative offering ot this season 's clip from all dis+rict's including a proportion of b'ack country and late shorn wool and a small quantity of straggler wool. -Some clips showed evidence of late shearing anct maii}r lots contained cots and dry-yolk stain. In general the quality and condition of the wool were not equal to the offering at the last sale and consequently the advance in price was niore eominendable. Continental buyers were the niain operators and took the bulk. of the fine halfbreds and skirtings. Bradford doniinated the cross breds ann local mills as usual securcd choice lots. Passings to the Wool Disposal Commission were few and far between. There was keen competition for lamb " slipe wool which indicated that more of this type af wool will be fortheoming in future. ^ The official range .of prices was as follows: — Fleece.
