IMPLACABLE WINS MANAWATU TROTTING CUP
The Manawatu Trotting Club was desperately unlucky with: the weather for this year's meeting. The sky was overcast and threatening, with a gusty wind on the first day, and on Saturday steady rain set in before the third race and continued for the rest of the day. In addition,. there was a breeze to slant the rain into the stands. Despite these handicaps the meeting was one of the -best ever held by the club, and if the rain had not set in on Saturday the totalisator would have been required to handle approximately £40,000. As it was, the investments amounted to £25,884 10s, compared with £32,782 on the second day last year, and the total for the meeting was £56,631, as against £52,598 10s, the increase being £4032 10s.
