Molotov gave up the positioh on wrncn he hau previously ihsisted and agreed to a proposal by Britam, France and rnc Jnited States that war criminals be returned from Austria only on „ne presenration of evidence thao the persons in quesuon were legitimate war criminals. The Mihisoers a.so agreed oh seven minor points of the treaty. It was a brisk and cordial meeting which cleared the air. They lefo eieven points for further consideration. 'ihe Ministers accepted a French proposal that there be no "official text" of the Austrian Treaty. M. Gruber told pressmen ihat he still believed there. was a chancc .i completing the treaty in Mu. but if-not Austria wouid use any possible method to gain independence and unity, including an appeal to United Nations. The issue oh which no compromise was possible was the Yugoslav claim for.a section of Styria and Carinthia.
