HASTINGS, April 16. The store sheep market at StorLford Lodgo today vvas influcnced by ' ' grass ' ' deniand and as a result there vvas aniniated bidding from a good crovvd of the farming public. . Values for good lanibs advanced by ls 6d a head while wethers remained fully liriu. A short yarding of 7000 head containcd some good conditioned sheep. ShQrn vvether lambs on account C. J. Williams, Atua, topped the season's selling ai 29s 8d, which was one penny more tirau the previous best price which, howevcr, was paid for woolly wethcr lambs. Other good--sh.om wether lambs sold at 27s. lOd to 28s. Woolly wether lambs made 22s 6d to 26s 4d and woolly ewe lambs 25s lOd. Four and six-tooth wethers were selling at 32s 6d to 85s and two-tooth wethers at 82s to 33s ,6d. Fat sheep buyers were olfered one of the smallest yarding for a long time. [Quality was lacking but recent rates were maintained. Wethers, which were in particularly short supply, made 84s 7d, prime ewes 24s 4d to 24s 7d, inedium ewes 21s lOd to 22s 4d, prime lanibs 20s 7d, light lambs 23s ld. There was a much brighter tone to the store cattle market when an entrv of 630 head, mostly genuine station bred lines, was offered. Passings were few and far between, this being in direct contrast to recent saies, when saies were hard to make. Well furnished bullocks made £14 16s, three offi steers £11 15s to £13, and one-off steers £8 35s. Empty cows in hani condition sold at £7, in-oalf cows at £7 15s to £7 17s 6d and cows anrl ealves £8. Values for one-oif heifers ranged from £6 to £6 12s and two-ofi heifers were traded at £7 2s 6d. j With a short yarding of only 12(1 head, the demand for beef was strong with values fullv lirm. Some good quality ox came forward, one draft exciting interest to sell at from £21 11s to £23 13s 6d, averaging £22 7s, most beasts being Herefords.
