GOLF AT BUCKLEY
ACTIVITIES D1JRING WEEKEND Fair golfing co'nditions prevailed at Buckley on Saturday afternoon. There was a rather strong wind bloWing, but this did 'not . prevent some good cards from J being handed in. There was a good gatheiing of players and a stroke competition was held. The foilowing are the scores: — H. Karena 65, J. Stern 68, H. Stern69, B. Harris 73, J. Bell 73, S. Gledhill 77, E. Homer 77, R. Downes 79, V. Picard 79, F. Picard 80, C. Booker 80, V. Tippler 82, R. Rasmussen 83, T. Roach 90 and P. Wright 99. The weather was more favour- ■ able on Sunday and thelinks were well patronised. A match in the ] "top dogs" competition, played in ] the morning, resulted in the holders, J. Mabey and W. Stern, warding\ off a challenge from B. Harris and T. S. Downes by five and four. During the afternoon a fourball best ball bogey wa§, played. Four cards were handed in with a . score of six up. . They were by Karena and J. Bell, J. Mabey and J. Purcell, V. Picard and Thomson, Harding and W. Stern. The latter pair won on the count back. Handicap Reductions The handicap committee advises the foilowing reductions in handicaps after the weekend play: K. Thomson reduced from 14-^11 to 8 — 6, J. Mabey from 7 — 5 to 6—4, H. Stern from 12 — 8 to 11 — 8, H. Karena from 25 — 19 to 22 — 17, J. Purcell from 28 — 21 to 25 — 19 and J. Stern from 28 — 21 to 26 — 20. Next Saturday the April medal round will be played and the chalienge from J. and H. Stern in the "top dogs" will also be decided over the weekend.
