RUGBY COMPETITIONS
^ — SENIOR GRADE RESTRICTED TO SIX TEAMS The decision to allow only six teams to enter the senior rugby competition was made at a meeting of the management committee of the 'Horowhenua Rugby Union on. Tuesday night. The Punahau Club was therefore, refused permission to enter a senior team. The six teams which have been accepted are Wanderers, Hui Mai, Athletie, Otaki-Rahui, Shannon and Foxton. The junior grade competition Will again ' be divided into north;erh •and southern divisions, with the dividing line through Levin. Levin teams will play in the northern, section, but Wanderers this year will play in the southern division to overcome the possibility of a bye. It was decided that there be a sole senior selector, but that tor the annual Maori-Pakeha mateh a Maori selector also be appointed. Mr. R. Sands, of Shannon, was appointed as the sole selector for senior representative teams and Mr. J. Sciascia, of Levin, was appointed the Maori selector for the Maori-Pakeha game. The other selectors appointed at the meeting were: — Junior: Mr. A. French (north) and Mr. F. Eales (south). Third grade: Mr. J. D. McFarlane. Messrs. J. D. McFarlane and J. E. . Fullarton were appointed trustees. Games will commence officially next Saturday, April 19, as grounds and referees were reported to be available.
