OTAKI GIRL GUIDES
A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a girl guide ccmpany for Otaki was held recently, Mrs. W. Wilson presidI'ng. The speaker for the after- j noon was Mrs. H. Turbott, provincial commissioner for Wellington, who was accompanied by Mrs. N. Kirkcaldie, district commissioner for Horowhenua and Miss Evison, the district secretary. Unfortunately, the response from mothers fell below expeota..tions,. ...probably— owing. .ntoc- ;theinconvenient hour and ofcher attractions. Several daughters, however, were present, and more, guides are expected once the company is under way, and chose who have had to go on the waitiri g list are assured of being called up during the year. It had first bee'n decided to hold a meeting on Friday but Saturday was favoured. Therefore, the first meeting will be held next Saturday at the Maori College room at 2 o'clock. It is hoped that there will be a full attendance.
