During the year the branch had had the active assigtance of the electorate organiser, Mr. W. Day, and the electorate secretary, Mr. R. G. Romans, both bf whohi had been a tower of strength in the support • and advice >• they had given. * Officers Elected Pfior to the election of officers, the president- intimated that the secretary and treasurer, Mr. E. E. Tyrrell, was not seeking re-elec-tion as pressure of personal dut- , les v(Ould not permit him to devote the time necessary for the task. Payiiig a tribute to. Mr. Tyrrell, the president added that he wisned it piaeed on record the appreciation of :the branch of the valuable work he had performed. During the election campaign, Mr. Tyrrell had temporarily resigned in order to act as personal secretary tq Mi% Maher, and had attended OVer 50 meetings "in that capacity. Nq one, continued Mr. Park, could appreciate the wOrk of Mr. Tyrrell more than Mr. Maher himself. Appreciation of the work of Mr. Tyrrell was also voiced by Mr. Mfther, who added the names of Messrs. Romans, Day and D. P. Todd. The election in the Otaki electorate had been the best cqn- ■ ducted ope he had ever taken part in, said Mr. Maher, and the credit was largely due to the efforts of these men.
