CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. On the arrival of the Rangatira a Lyttelton on Friday morning the easkei eontaining the late Hon. D. G. Sullivan will be taken off the ship at 7.10 a.m. and in honour of one who was for man\ years Minister of Railways, members oj the Railway Hepartnient in the Christ ehurch area will t'orm the bearer p_ai't\ to carry the casket to a l^earse waitip.^ at the end of Lyttelton wharf. The hearse will proeeed to the civie ehain bers where it will ari'iye at 8 a.in. " li will be met by the Mayor of Christ ehureh, Mr. E. H. Andrews, and inem bers of the city council who will t'orm the bearer party to carry the caskei into the Civic Theatre where it wih lie in state till 9 p.m. that night. Tln public will be admitted to the theatj-f between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m* Members of the Navy, Army and Air Porce wili mount .guard over the casket during the period in which it lies in state. Wreaths will be received at the CiviiTheatre from 9 a.m. Thursday morning till (3 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Friday untii 9 p.m. It is not desired that wreath. should be delivered at the church ai any time. The casket will lie in thi church during Friday night. Solemn requiem mass will be cdlebrated at 9.1. a.m. in the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The celebrant wih be Very Rev. Father F. Finlay, ad ministrator at the cathedral. The preacher will be the Right Rev.. Mon signor J. A. Kennedy, parish priest m Becke'nham, and his Lordship, Bishop Lyons, will preside at the mass and wili give the absolution. The service wiil be broadeast over all national stations Seats will be reserved in the cathedral for special mourners. Follovving the service at the cathe dral the cortege will move off preceded by a band, down Barbadoes Street. As from t,he eorner of Hereford Street the cortege will move at a quicker paee down Hereford Street into Linwood Avenue and at iipproximately a quarter of a mile from ihe entrance to the Bromley lawn eemetery, a second band will join the cortege which will then move in slow time to the graveside in the lawn eemetery. The ehief tratfic inspector, j.n cooperation with the Superintendent oi Police, will marshal the cars outside the cathedral. All cars in the official pr'ocession will be given a special number ed sticker and tliey will take their place in the procession in the oriler of their numbers. Private cars wishing to join tlie procession will take their place at the end of the numbered cars. Bearers at the cathedral will bc reprcsentatives of the national executive of the Laboui Party and the national executive of the Pederation of Labour, together with represcntatives of the iocal labour representation eommittee and loeal .trades council. Bearers at the grave will be formed from among Mr. Sullivan 's Cabinet colleagues. As a mark of respect to the late Minister, the Canterbury Jockey Club has postponed the opening of "their race meeting to be held on Saturday from 10.45 to 11.30 a.m. To meet this change in time the Tramways Union have voluntarily agreed to make trams available until after the last raee now timed to start at 4.35 p.m.
