UNUSUAL ENDING TO GOLF FINAL

AUCKLAND, April 8. By striking tlxe ball of his oppouent, R. H. Glading, of Titirangi, into tlie hole from a dead stymie on the 36th and last hole of the match, A. R. Kitto, of Wanganui, defending titJe-holder, lost the North .Island amateur golf championship. Grlading's bal] lay- only an inch or so from the cup and Ivitto 's was .about a .foot behind it. Kitto played a follow-through billiard shot striking Glading's ball full and firmly. For a moment -after the impaet it seemed that Kitto 's shot had succeeded for his own ball followed through and dropped into the hole but the shot was not quite firm eixough for Glading's bal] dropped a little as it cleared the hole, struek the further edge and spun upwards and back to drop cleanly down, Glading winning one up.
