FABRIC SHORTAGE HOLDS UP TYRE MANUFACTURE
WELLINGTON, April 2, A denial that the estabUshment of three tyre factories in New Z.ealand was adversely aft'ecting the prospeets of the Dominion in importing tyres, was made by Mr, G. P. Proctor, inanaging director of Lunlop New Zealand Limit ed, at tlio annnal meeting of the compauy in Wellington^ today. Referring in his report to the likehhood of continued shortages of eertain types of tyres, Mr. Proctor said these vvould be due to ravv material difficulties f acing overseas manufacturers. ' ' This statement may seem strange to the public in view of the plentifnl snppiy of raw rnbher but a raw ma terial" of eqnal importance is tyre cord or fabric and the reduced output in the spinning section of the textile in dustrv has eaused a grave world shortage, " said Mr. Proctor.
