THIEVES STEAL CAR FROM SHOWROOM

AUCKLAND, April 1. Property wortix more than £1U00 was stolen by burglars who broke into the premises of Paine Brothers Ltd., motor ongineers, Great Bouth Road, Otahuhu, ou Monday night. The firin's loss ineluded a i939 model saloon inotor car \ alued at £950, whieh was on display in the • showroom, and an almost nciv typewriter worth £75. No money was taken and no attempt Avas made to biow open the oiiice safe. The intruders gained entry by brealcing a window at the back of the premises. They used an electrie toreh to assist them in their search for valuabies and when this £ ailed they discarded it and appropriated one beiongiug to the tirm. In addition to helping themselves to a ldt of tools valued at £5 from another car in the showroom, the thieves took petrol from about seveu other vehicles. . They drove thh stoleu car through the back door aud down a private alieyway. Neighbours lieard soineone in the right-of-way shortly before midnight but they tliought it was someone connected with the firiu. The burglary was diseovered this hioming-
