CARD EVENING AND DANCE
Quite a gay atmosphere prevailed at the Raukawa Hall on Friday night last, the occasion being a card party and dance organised by the Otaki Band. The hall was pi.cked, and if the applause was any indication, the efforts of the popular maestros, Pat Sharp and Biii BennetL, augumented on this occasion ^by two bandsmen, were all that could be desired. ... A novelty dance was won by Miss Weno Tahiwi and. Bandsman Lumley, while extras were kindly supplied by Miss Tahiwi and Mr. Ben Cassidy. Durlng the , evening Bandmaster Dinnison tendered the thanks of the Otaki Band to all who had attended, or bought tickets, or helped in any .way at all, and announced that a further similar evening would pe held on April. 11. Mr. J. Miller carried out the duties of M.C; in his usual efficient {manner, keeping things going with 1 a swing right from the opening i number. Card prizes were won by | Mrs. P. Cootes, Miss Royal, Miss Te iHana and Mrs. R. Bills.
