MR. TE WIATA DUE TO LEAVE ON APRIL 19

SUCCESS OF HIS CONCERTS Mr. Jack Grant, writing to friends in Otaki, states that he is very pleased to report the success of Mr; Mia Te Wiata concerts at Foxto-n and Levin, the results being very gratifying. On March 24 he was presented to Lord and Lady Bledisloe, who, after hearing him sing, said that they would take cafe of him and see that he received the best of care and attention while in, England. Mr. Grant states that the wonderful gifts that have been made to Mr. Te Wiata by members of his race will equip him second to none. The Maori people of Otaki in particular have been most generous, and this was indeed pleasing. On March 17 Mr. Te Wiata had made a flint short for the National Film Unit. It would be shown in the weekly review, and should be seen at Otaki later. His singing of "Waiata Poi" and "Waiata Maori" had been amazing. Mrs. Te Wiata and family, said Mr. Grant, were comfortably accommodated in a State house at Ngaruawahia, where they would be well cared for until Mr. Te Wiata returned. The Rimutaka was now schedmed to sail pn April 19, but prior to this Mr. Te Wiata would give a farewell concert at Hastings, this being at the request of Bishop Bennett, Who had worked in a wonderful way to assist him.
