Pcrsonal ■ , Mr. Peter Emotfc is at present a patient at the Palmerston North Hospital. Early Violets . Violets are being sent from Otaki to the markets i'n Wellington, and are realising good prices. First Mushrooms The - first mushrooms of the season have appeared in Otaki and are selling at high rates. Girl Guide Meeting A meeting of those interested m the formation of a girl guide company will be held at 3.45 p.m. tomorrow and not at night as previously stated. Maori Missions For the Mauri Missions subscnptions amounting to £2 15s ,6d have been received from Paraparaumu, £10 12s from Rangiatea (Otaki Church) , ^ and a donation of 15s from Mrs. McRae (Paraparaumu) . Narrow Escape "While bowling at the weekend a visitor narrowly missed being struck in the face by a bowl which had been driven with considerable force from the far end. The bowl struck a player's shoe and bounced up, passing over the shoulder of another player who was sitting on the bank.
Bowling in Otaki The Otaki Bowling Club is arranging for a tournament on its green on Easter Monday. The Railway Club will probably hold tournaments each fortnight. The green is in very fine order and the club hopes to play throughout the winter months. The lady bowlers of Otaki are making satisfactory progress ahd efforts are to be made to considerably increase the membership of the club. School Party's Outing A party of children from the Manakau and Te Horo schools visited Wellington yesterday. They were invited by the Junior Chamber of Commerce to visit the Capital City that they might i;ecome acquainted with its sights and workings. The girls were invited yesterday, and their tour started at 9.30 a.m. with an inspection of Parliament Buildings and grounds. Later they saw the city council's milk depot. They had a mid-day lunch at the Mount Victoria School and visited the National War Memorial and Carillcm. Later, they visited a radio station, the Karitane factory at Melrose, and went for a trip over Mount Victoria and a ride on the cable car. The tour ended with a walk through the Botanical Gardens and an inspection of the begonia house.
