The FOktoh teams Were com-f peting for the N.Z. Woolpack and Textiles, Ltd., challenge cup.donat* ed by the company for COmpetition amohg Foxton teams only. The flrst team to mairch was Smith'Ss and they proved the winnerSj While MUnawatu gained secOhd piace, The possible points were 130 and the names of teams and points gained were as folioWS: S'mith's (121) 1, Maiidwatu (ll6|) 2, Textiles (1131) 3, Rosco (198) 4. The judges Wete MCSSrs. J. Macfarlftne, M. Kehoe, D. Convery and E. Carpenter. A grand parade of all teams marked the commencement of the afternoon's programme, the saiute being taken by Mr. H. POdmpre, Mayor of Foxton, Mr. R. Murray, president of the HoroWhehua Association, ahd Mr. W. R. jack. In declaring the ' afternoon's contest and display open, Mr, Podmore congratulated Foxton, as weli as the visiting teams, for makihg the entertainmeht possible, and recalled that oniy a little over seVen months ago, Foxton had no band nor marchihg teams, but today had bo.th. Displays by Caledohian, K,B,H. and Macduff's, Levin, and a combined dispiay by Broadway and Premier, Shannon, added to the afternoon's enjoyment. The Foxton Siiver Band supplied the musie for all teams. A serpentine march, headed by'lC.B.H. and Caledonian teams, brought the afternooh to a close. The trophy Was presehted to the wihhihg team at the cOnclusion by Mr. Podmore, who had the honour of presentihg it -to his own daughter, the co-leader with Miss J. GoodWin, of Smith'S. M thanking all teams, Mr. Podmore made special mention of the Foxton SilVer Band, which had quite a hard afternoon's work ahd extendCd the association's thanks to the merhbers of it. The parents' committee afterwards entertai'ned the teams and offlcials at afternoon tea in the supper room of the Towh Hall, where Mrs. Goodwin and helpers Were the hostesses. A special vote of thanks is due to Mrs. Goodwin for the work shs coiltributed towards making the day a success and the Foxtoh coaches, along with her, are deserving of praise for the smooth running of the afternoon's programme.
