DEATHROLL GROWS AS RIOTS SPREAD
Received Monday, 11.15 a.m. BOMBAY, March 30. Cominunal rioting between Moslems and Hindus broke out in ohree areas of central Bombay, and bodies are reported to be lying in several streets.* The casualties are unoffieially estimated at over twenty dead and 100 injured. The rioters buined a car down to the chassis with the four passengers trapped inside and screaming. The police opened fire on ten separate occasions to disperse the rioters. A 12-hour curfew has been imposed hightly for a week in the riot areas.. Reports reaching Bombay say that five are dead and ten injured as a result of communal rioting at Ranchi, in Bihar Province. - A Calcutta message says that' the authorities called out troops to quell rioting at Howrah.
