With her lovely face and figure on the covers of many hational magazines, Dusty was chosen to join the 18 top-flight models signed by- COluriibia ? to make their second ■ motion picture debut in the Rita Hayworth musical "Cover Girl." This was Dusty's second chance at fllm fame. The first opportunity had come when she was five years old, and was offered a contract with "Our Gang" comedy troupe. Her mother, feeling that the child was fcoo young for a career, answered with a firm "No!" Today, Dusty isn't soiry. she believes that her movie stdrt as an adult was the correct approach. : And she is indubitably right, "for she is the only one of the origlnal cover girls to remain under contract to Columbia. She had her first outstanding role as the handmaiden ih the :tudio's technicolour "1001 Nights." Dusty (her real name is Ruth) was horn on December 17, 1918. She attended De Viflus High School, University of Toledo, and the school of the Toledo Museum of Art. She had early ambitions to act, paint and decorate, liked to design clothes, but found it paid better to model. She has been on the covers of at least a dozen magazines of ' wide circulation, including the Farm J ournal, which ordinarily runs ' to more bucolic subjects. She has had practically a eorner -on summer bathing suit posing, almost as much for her hardihood for her beauty of face and figure; she was agreeable to posing on Jones Beach, Long Island, in the dead of winter, when other girls quibbled at such rigours. * Dusty is five feet, seven inches tall, weighs 118 pounds, has b'lue eyes and dark brown hair. She maintains a ' deep tah the year round.
