RAILWAY COAL POSITION DESPERATE

—P*ess Association

5 y Telegraph-

AUCKLAND, March 28. A drastic curtailment of railway services will be inevitable unless coal from the Huntly mines is forthcoming early next week. The coal supply position is reported by the Railways Department today to be desperate. All the Waikato mines were again idle today and by 1 p.m. no move to end the dispute had been disclosed. The opinion in the industry here •is that the time is overdue for Government intervention for the resiunption of production, especially in view of the heavy losses in output through the power crisis.
