British star Pnyilis Calvert has left Hollywood for England to see her daughter. She will return to Hollywood in May to star in Paramount's "Make You a Fine Wife." Betty Hutton's flrst film since the arrival of her baby daughter will be Paramount's "Sainted Sisters." Sterling Hayden and John Lund will co-stgp- with the vivacious Betty in this film. Bonita Granville's marriage to film producer Jack Wrather, was the social event of Hollywood recently. The 24-year-old actress and th'e wealthy Texan met nearly a year ago, when he went to Hollywood, and have been starry-eyed ever since. The William Powells' seventh wedding anniversary was celebrated on February 30. Bill gave wife Diana a diamond necklace in commemoration of the occasion. Referring to the English star, James Mason, who is in America, Barbara Stanwyck, one of Hollywood's leading actresses, who is on a visit to England, answering . a question, said: "James Mason is now about the most popular screen star in the world, certainly in the United States." Brian Donlevy will have the custody of his four-year-old daughter, Judith Anne, for 10 months of every year. The Donlevys ended their 11-year-old marriage in the divorce courts last month. The couple were married twice in Mexico, and a week later in Hollywood, in 1936, to make sure that the knot was legal. Ballerina Toumanova has left Hollywood for France where she has an engagement for the Paris opera season. She will then go to London where she will. star for' Korda in his provocative film, "The Loves of Pavlova." Bob Hope presented the annual awards bestowed on films and stars of 1946 by "Look" magazine last week. The winners were: Jennifer Jones, for "Duel in the Sun" ; Gregory Peck, for "Duel in the Sun" and "The Yearling" : Darryl Zanuck, for producing "The Razor's Edge" ; Larry Park, as the outstanding newcomer, in "The Jolson Story" ; Charles Brown, for his direction of "The Yearling" and Harold Russell, crippled exserviceman, for "The Best Years of Our Lives" (a special award) . Rex Harrison will star in "that romantic adventure, "The Foxes of Harrow," under the dire.ction of John Stahl. At nresent the British star is working in "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" — without his co-star Gene Tierney. | GREER GARSON SEPARATED . « Career trouble lies behind the separation of Greer Garson and husband Richard Ney. When the pair married in 1943 Greer was at the top of her career and young husband Richard, some 10. years her junior, was practically unknown. Today, Ney is getting. excellent roles— the son in "The Late George Apley" for Fox, with Ronald Colman; the second lea'd in "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir,"' also for Fox, -with Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney. He now goes to Univers'al to star in "Ivy," with either Olivia de Havilland or Joan Fontaine, and has other films to make for the same company. On the other hand, Greer's popularity is dropping. Signs are so marked that Metro has recalled her new film, "A Woman of My Own," for six weeks of a re-take before release.
