BRITISH CYCLE INDUSTRY TO BE REDUCED

Tlie Board of Trade has infonned the bicycle industry, which stepped up ex jiorts in 194(1 to the record figure of £(),.-)()0,0()0, that it must cut production by 7."5 per cenf. by December, says the Dailv Mai!. The reduction, which is said to be due to the acute shortage ot steel. is expected to mean the virtual disappearance of new bicvcles from tluhoine market. The British Cycle Manufacturers' Union spokesman said the industry would probably have to export everv bicycle made.
