A. Staples, Manakau- Three Roinney ewes, judge, Mr. G. Weggery, Waikanae. Three Southdown ram hoggets; judge, Mrv J. A. p.aples, Manakau. Three 'Jersey cows, dairy type; judge, Mr. H. J Lancaster, Leyin. before each d.ass of stock was jsudged by $hje Y.FG. members, the judge. in charge of the class gave a brief mtline oi- the giins and objacts in breeding such stock, the general eonformation Of . good stock, and the points to be taken notice of when judging was being carried out.. The winners in the stock judging competitions were as foilows; — ' V. C. Lewis Cup for highest points in 'all classes: R." Denton, Levin Club; first prize of £1; R. Denton, Levin Gluta; second prize of 19s; L. Stapjes, Otaki-Te Horo Club; third prize of 7s 6d: R. Hilias, Otaki-Te Horo Club. In making the presentations to che winners, Mr. H. .J. Lancaster, Leyin, stressed the importance and value of sto.ck judging field days as a means of furthering the general knowledge of stock. The young farmer today was the futurp breeder of good stock, and any means of gatherjng knowledge as to breeding, feeding and mahagament of stock was of extreme value. He congratulated the winners on their day's judging and the manner in which they had written up their eards. Mr. M- Rolston, chajrman of the distfict committee, thanked Mr. H. N. Kobbeli for the use of his property and stock yards for the held d;ay, the yarious farmers who had lent stock for the occasion, and the judges who had giv.en their time and knowled^e in explaining the stock to be judged. A vote of thanks was'also pa.ssed to the Paraparaumu Y.F.C. comniittee for the work tlie members had carried out :in arranging for stock and in arranging the catering faciliti.es.
