CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. Although he had not seen the Auck land and Canterbury players in action he thought there was a detinite improve ment in the standard of New Zealaiul cricket, said Major R. Howard, lnanagei of the M.C.C. team, tonight. The im provement was, he thought, remarkable in that so littie time had elapsed since the war ended. The English players were enjoying their tour very mucli, k'lajor Howard said. He hoped the test match tomorrow would be as good a game as the other two his side had played in New Zealand. He referred particularly to the Otago match and said the English players would certainly try to make the Tesf as interesting as tlie game played at Carisbrook. j The twelfth mau for the New Zealand "team will be announced tomorrow morning. It was expected that the English team would be announced today, but as three of the players are sull'ering niinor ailnients the selection will not be made till tomorrow. The players aflfected are Edrich, who is suffering from an eye coinplaint, Yoce, an unsouud ann, and Fishlock an injured ankle.
