CRITICAL TIME AHEAD FOR UNITED NATIONS
Received Wednesday, 9.50 p.m. NEW YORK, March 19. The United Nations, with its prestige hadly shaken hy President Truman's deeision to hypass - it rn yrelation to Greeee and Turkey, is trying ^o enlist the World ' Rank's eooperation which^is essential if the TJnited Nations is" ever to carry out an international credit programme. The fundamental difficulty is the 1'act that the hank, although nominally a TJnited Nations agency, has thus i'ar refused to have anything to dp with that organisation. It is generally recognised here that President Truman's message -to Congress' foreshadows a critical tifne for the TJnited Nations unless steps are taken immediately to vitalise its pro gramme of international action.
