WILD SURFING AT SYDNEY

Received Mondav, 7 p.m. SYDNEY, March 17. Hundreds of people- were reseued at Sydney beaches yesterday in the wildest dav of the surf this season. Severai popular beaches were closed because of heavy and dangerous surf. Life-savers had a busy day; using reels, boats, boards and surf skis. Though the huge waves swept swimmers out to sea, sometimes 60 at a time, there were no fatali tics. Injuries were conlined to abrasions and damaged fingers,. suffered mainly by the rescuers when boats and boards were dumped in the breakers.
