AUCKLAND, Mar. 17. Slutrp criticism of the Government for allowing the present power crisis to develop was expressed by several members of the Aucklajid Eleetric Povxer Board when it met, today. Steps necessary to bring about a general saving of electricity consumption were discussed in eomiixittee, a statement being made later that the Auckland Transport Board was to be asked to reduce the power it used by 10 per cent., and that a nuniber of reconunendations would be sent to the Electric Power Boards and Supply. Authorities' Association. The reconunendations, which will be considered at an exnergency nxeeting of the association executive toinorrow monxing aird, if approved, will be subxnitted to the Minister of Works, Hon. E. Semple, for iixclusion iix the control order applyixxg to all consuxners ixx the North Island, are as follow: — Total prohibition of all fornxs oi electrical lieatixxg, shop wiudow lighting, under verandah lightixxg (includixxg that at entrances to picture theatres), lioodlighting (includixxg that at playixxg areas both iixdoor aird outdoor), and the extinguishing of street lightiixg at 11 p.in.
