GOT PENSION UNDER FALSE PRETENCES

WELLINGTON, March 17. Thirty charges of wrongly obtaining snouey under the War Pensions Act and one charge of failing to disclose that he was in employment and earning wages, were f'aced by Albert Kenneth Purdoin, R.N.Z.A.F. driver, aged 31, in the Magistrate's Court today. He pleaded guilty. Senior Deteetive E. H. CompPon said that Purdoin liad been paid £370 19s 8cl for himself and his wife as the result of'the oft'ences which he had admitted. Counsel for Purdom said he had had matrimonial . worries and had been suffering from tuberculosis as the result of which he had got into debt. He sub mitted tliat accused was a- serious minded young man who coukl be admitted to probation 011 condition that lie made restitution at 30s per week. Remarking that the amount involved was large, Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., admitted Purdom to probation for three years but stipulated that the money be repaid at the rate of £2 per week.
