WAITARERE'S OFFICERS FOR NEW YEAR

There was a fair attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Waitarere Institute, over which Miss Stanley presided in the absence of the- president. One new member was welcomed. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Fletcher, Swan, Turton and Coleman. Mrs. Fagan presented the annual review of the institute's activities during its first year. Mrs. Tabor, voluntary organiser, who then took the chair, congratulated the retiring officers on the manner in which they had carried out their duties during the past year. She then gave members a short talk and some helpful advice, expressing the hope that institute members would continue to work in harmony and increase in numbers. On the motion of Mrs. Hood, a vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Tabor for attending the meeting. Mrs. Stanley presented shoulder sprays to Mrs. Tabor, Miss Stanley, Mrs. Fagan (secretary) and Mrs. Edwards (treasurer) . The officers for the coming year are: — President: Mrs. Fagdn; vicepresidents: Mesdames Waugh and Stanley; secretary: Mrs. Fraser; treasurer: Mrs. Edwards; committee: Mesdames Benning, Turton, Hood and H. Coleman, and Misses Stanley and Smith. The best bloom competition was judged by Mrs. Tabor and resulted as follows: Mrs. Fagan 1 and 2, Miss Stanley 3.
