OPIKI SCHOOL COMMITTEE

MARCH MEETING HELD. Mr. Barnes presided over the March meeting of the Opiki School Committee held in the school. All members were present. The headmaster (Mr. J. Calder) reported that the school roll now stood at 118 pupils, which was an increase of two since the last meeting. The committee is making an endeavour to obtain tables and chairs for the infant pupils. as desks are now considered obsolete for them. - It was reported that a busload of children have been taken to the Tokomaru Rivei; on suitable days during the week' and a "learn to swim" campaign is being held. It is intended to carry on with this arrangement while the weather remains warm.
