STATE HOUSES FOR OTAKI

TENDERS CALLED FOR Mrs. I. Cross, secretary of the Otaki branch of the Labour Party, has received the following communication from the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Works: "I acknowledge your letter of the 26 ultimo. enquiring as to the prospects of further State houses being erected in Otaki. Some time- ago tenders were invited for the erection of four houses in Otaki, but unfortunately no tenders were received. The Department of Housing Construction intends to. re-advertise the contract within the next few days, and I would suggest that you endeavour to bring the matter to the notice of local builders with the intention that they submit tenders when called for." We understand that tenders will be available from local builders and that, therefore, there are prospects of State houses being erected.
