I A hitch has arisen in the p'roposal to clutrter the Cunard liner Aquitania to | britig Britisli migrants to Australia. j Last tuoiiUi the M.inistei' of ■ Irmnig ration, Mr. Calwoll, announced that the Government had virtuallv completel ncgotiations for the charter. The Aquitania was expected to leave for Australia 011 her lirst vovage under the sc.heine, about the middle of May. The Government has now received word that this is most unlikely. Mr. Calwell said in Canberra that Australia was trving to charter or buy a nuniber of ships which Britain has returned to United States. This afternoon the Egyptian steamer Misr, 7177 tons, formerly Ihe Empire Mace, is reported. to have left Port Said for Australia via Durban. The vessel was built 111 America in .1943 and was j originallv ehartered to fiancees and 1 Australian servicemen. A party of 27 Greeks will settle in New Soutli Wales Queensland and New Zealand.
