Received S&turday, 11 a.m. VENICE, March 14. Every German soldier carried in his pay book Germany's "Ten Commandments" on intemational law and the usages of war, said the former German commandef, Kesselring, who has now been giving widence in his defcnce against war rimes charges for ten days. The :ommandments ihcluded: Firstly, that tne German soldier niust obsdrve the rules of chivall'ous warfare. Senseless destrucion is below his standarGs.
Secbndly, no enemy.who surrenders will be killed. This includes partisans and spies. Thirdly, prisoners of war must not be ill-treated or insulted. Fourthly, Red Cross institutions are sacrosianct and injured enemLes are to be treated humanely.
