ANGLICAN LADIES' GUILD
ANNUAL MEETING Members of the Anglican Ladies' Guild gathered in full force in the Parish Hall last Wednesday for the annual meeting .of the guild. The ' retiring president, Mrs. E. L. Hyde, occupied the chair and Rev. J. H. Datson and Mrs. Datson were present. In presenting her annual report, Mrs. Hyde extended her sincere thanks to all the guild members for their loyal support during the year, and also to Mr. and Mrs.( Datson for regularly attending the meetings. Mrs. Hyde stated that, due to the hard work done by members, it had been possible to hand over to the treasurer the sum of £304 15s 7d, which was indeed a creditable sum. The president stated that she desired to give special thanks to Mrs. C. Parr for the able way in which she had carried out the duties of secretary during the past year. Her job was not an easy one, but she had spent much 'of her time in doing it effieiently. Thanks were also due to Mrs. Allerby for the delightful afternoon spent at her home, to those who had assisted at the church dances, to those who had assisted with the cleaning of the church and visiting the sick, and also to the public and the church members who had made the annual bazaar such a successful function. Mrs. Hyde sa'id that owing to the. extreme pressure of other business, she was unable to offer herscTf for re-election as nrsident. Rev. J. H. Datson stated that he wished a minute of appreciation to be recorded for the good work which Mrs. Hyde had done for the church, and referred to one name which Mrs. Hvde^had omitted, and that was of her "son. Selwyn, who had ably assisted his mother. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr. and Mrs. Hallam's work for the church was spoken of and a vote of thanks passed. Mr. Datson concluded his remarks by wishing the guild a very successful future. : Difficulty was experienced in persuading anyone to accept the office of president. Finally Mrs. Allerby was elected and Mrs. A. R. Mills vice-president. In recognition of the good work Mrs. Hyde had done, Mr. Datson proposed tha4she be appointed a vice-president emeritus. Mrs. C. Parr was reelected secretary and treasurer, Mr. Datson paying a . tribute to her work. The following were elected to the committee: Mesdames D. Jpnes, H. G. Leng-Ward," 'C. Bll vines, E. L. Hyde, F. Johnson, R. H. Charter, R. E. Vinsen, E. Moore, Wyle, Lang' and T. Walker. iMesdames ' F. C.-. Peach, E. Moore, F, Johnson; H. Stern, Rasmussen and Miss Abbott were enrolled as new members. Mrs. Allerby will ,visit the sick during March and Mrs. Parr win have the care of the church. Mrs. Charter and Mrs. Cronquest will be the hostesses for the next meeting. A letter was received from Mrs. E. Chester thanking the guild members for the cheery letters and flowers sent to her during her illness. During the serving of afternoon tea the opportunity was taken by Mrs. Datson to pin shoulder sprays on Mesdames Hyde and Parr, and by Mr. Datson to present to Mrs. G. Munford,. on behalf of guild members, a prayer book, at the same time wishing her bon voyage, a happy reunion with her people in England and a safe return t'o this country. Mr. Datson announced that church would be held on two Sundays in the future — the first Sunday in the month, when services will be at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and the third Sunday. when services would be at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
