PARCELS FOR BRITAIN
SOCIAL AFTERNOON HAS GOOD RESULTS, The Otaki-Te Horo branch of the Women's Division held a social afternoon recently at Mrs. (V. J. Cottle's home, the object being to raise food to send parcels to England. All present were asked to bring tinned foods or a donation. A very happy and profitable afternoon was spent judging by the large array of tinned goods received. Mrs". Langman and Miss Avery sang a number of songs and Miss Lawrie played the piano, all items being much appreciated by those present. Competitions occupied the rest of the afternoon. Afternoon tea- was provided by each member bringing a plate, and afterwards many of the cakes were sold to help provide funds for postage. Later members met at Mrs. Synnott's home in Otaki and Mrs. Blackburne's home at Te Horo to pack the parcels, which were sent to British Merchant gunners who had been offered hospitality by W.D. members during the war. The division hopes to have many more efforts to raise funds to send food to Britain. and tru.sts the general public will be generous in supporting them. .
