HIGHWAYMAN TACTICS DEPLORED
-Press Association
/ CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE IN CONFERENCE
By Telegraph—
NAPIER, Wednesday. "There seems to be a good deal of evidence in support of the opinion that much of the trouble is the outcome of ill-advised andfat times bad leadership of the workers concerned," said Mr. W. H. Hindle, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, when referring at the conference of the association today to industrial unrest in tfbe country. "There will never be industrial peace and harmony while highwayman tactics are used, as for instance in the case of railway employees threatening • to strike at Christmas time and seamen striking when a disabled liner had to be docked." Continuing, Mr. Hindle said: "From my observation I am of the opinion that most employers have an honest desire to treat their employees fairly and do the best possible for them.. I can see no justification for the unreasonable and uncompromising methods used by some sections of workers to gain their demands at the pistol point."
