Commenting on the opening tomorrow of the Conimonwealth trade talks in London, the Daily Telegraph says Britain's preliminary lists of goods on which she wants tariff reductions from buver countries, .foreshadow iniportant changes in British export trade. The Government seelcs to change the emphasis from . articles such as cotton goods, which cah be competitively produced in countries with • low wage standards, to special niaiiufaetures re quiring a high degree of skill. These include jet engines, penicillin and radar equipment. Penicillin appeared in the export returns as a separate item for the first time in January when Britain exported £70,000 worth. Britain sent to the countries represented at the preparatory • commission. international trade lists of hundreds of itenis 011 which she wants lower tarifls.
