SERIES OF FIRES IN U.S.
DAMAGE IN EXCESS OF 600,000 DOLLARS Received Monday, 11.30 a.m. NEW YORK, March 10. Four fires in four different cities killed three men and caused damage estimated at more than 600,000 dollars. Two hundred guests fled from the Lake Hotel at Gary, Indiana, when fire broke out in a building causing damage estimated at 100,000 dollars. Two hundred and twenty-five people fled from the Colonial Hotel at York, Pennsylvania, when a half-million dollar fire swept the building. Scores fled from the fifteenstorey Sheraton Hotel in Philadelihia when fire damaged the ninth floor. It is the fifth fire in this hotel since November. Three men who did not flee died when fire burned down a boarding house in Indianapolis.
