NEW VARIETY OF WHEAT SEED STOLEN
CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday. All this year's yield from an experimental plot of one of the most promising new varieties of wheat evolved by the Wheat Research Institute was in one of two bags of grain stolen during the week-ehd from the stack beside a threshing mill at Lihcoln Institute, which now has only a small quantity held back from sowing. This will have to be sown next year foi* seed, thus delaying by twelve months the prospect of -the Wheat Institute being able to give farmers a new wheat which has promised in trials so far to. be superior even to the famous Cross 7.
