AUCKLAND, Mar. 7. "Over ail the vears I have not known an occasion when commereia] travellers nioved to their own advantage but they have always moved to the advantage of the community, " said the Mayor, Mr. J. A. 0. Alluin, when he opened the annual conference of the United- Oommercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association in Auckland. Mr. Allum said the . first New Zealand Association was formed in Otago in 1884 and he became a member of that branch in 1911. The following officers were elected: Patran, the Governor-General, Bir Befn-ard-Freyberg, V.C.; president, Mr. C. O. Mathias (Otago); honorary treasurer, Mr. H. H. Wauchop ; auditor, Mr. II. Bicknell; board of management of the accident and sickness inSurance department, third representative, Mr. B. A. Orehard; assoeiate member, Mr. A. E. Romeril; member of board of trustees of central mortuary benefit fund, Mr. G. E. Iving. Twenty-six delegates from four associations attended the one-day conference. A eoncerted move to raise at least £1000 throughout New Zealand to send more food pareeis to Britain was unanimously decided npon.
