A. AND P. ASSOCIATION REVIEWS FIXTURE There was a good attendance of members at a meeting of the Horowhenua Agricultural and Pastoral Association last night. The president, Mr. J. A. Kilsby, extended a special welcome to the members of the town committee, who were in' attendance for the first time at a meeting of the association's general committee. ■ Mr. Kilsby, in referring to the recent annual show, thanked all who were associated together 'in making the show the outstanding success it had been, both financially and otherwise. He extended special, thanks to the general, town and laaies' committee, stewards, man.iger .and staff of the Boys' Training Centre, those who had lent paddocks for stock, the KukuManakau and Levin Dairy Companies, Mr. H. B. Honore (of Kuku) r'or carting milk.-Mr. W. Meddings and the staff of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, the Press for its co-operation, Messrs. J. Irving and W. Beale for their assistance, Messrs. M. T. and G. W. Read for trucking stock, the caretaker (Mr. L. Melville) , members of the Levin Municipal Band for their enter.ainment and assistance, the headmaster of the Levin School (Mr. H. F. McClune) , the railway authorities for the running of a special train, the doiiors of trophies and prizes, the secretary (Mr. J. E. Fullarton) and all who assisted and co-operated in any way. A letter was received from the Rev. C. P. Lucas, of the Methodist District Youth Council, Wellington, enquiring about the possibility of securing the showgrounds at Easter for the purpose of holding a youth camp. The district extended as far north as Levin. The matter was referred to the finance committee. The secretary, Mr. ^ Fullarton, reported that the snow • this year had shown a profit of £138 after the cost of repairing the buildings and setting the grounds in order had been paid. The receipts had been £2,290 and the payments, including the cost of repairs, £2,152. Mr. H. J. Lancaster was appointed to represent the association on the Western District .Council of the Royal Agricultural Society. It was decided to forward a donation of £5 5s to the Levin Municipal Band for its services at the show. Thirty-one new members were elected to the association for next year, and six resignations were accepted with regret. A sub-committee of Messrs. J. H. Mungavin, J. A. Kilsby, J. Blenkhorn and S. Barber was set up to go into the matter of purchasing a pony for raffling at the 1948 show. Further donations totalling £27 11s were received as follows: "The Chronicle," £20; Mr. H. Hocken, £3; Mr. L. 'Melville, £1 ls; Messrs. J. J. Maher, R. W. Goldsmith and J. Manson, £1 each; and Mrs. Speedy, 10s. Clarks, Ltd., also donated several pounds worth of articles.
