PLOUGH WAS MUCH SLOWER THAN ON TUESDAY Awapuni stables will be strongly represented at Trentham and it is anticipated that some of the hig prizes will he won by horses from this centre. Keen interest was taken in j/esterday's final trials which were all satisfactory. The .gallops took place . on the plough, which, over a1 mile, would be' two seconds slower than on Tuesday. G. W. New, who was leaving later for Wellington to give evidence before the Gaming Coinmission, had Voltaic (J. Harris) and Flying Orders (A. Bowness) out just as dawn was breaking. They ' were sent against the watch over six furlongs. They were together at the finisli with V oltaic going yery smoothly and^ they wez'e timfed to run the distance in a fraetion under 1.19. ' Yasda (V. J. Sellers) and Flymg Ace (A. G. Waddell) worked over a mile and they were anxious to go. They broke- 40 for the iirst three, ran the first five in 1.5, and were home in 40 2-5, to complete in 1.45 2-5. They covered the last six in 1.19 and the last five in 1.6, and the gallop was better than the tirnes would indicate. Langue d'Or (A. G. Waddell) was exereised. before going out with Arco (W. J. Broughton) and Broiefield (Sellers). They were away smoothly from short of the mile peg and Langue d 'Or immediately dropped back behind the others. They rau the first five in l.G and Langue d'Or moved up to be on terms at the home tuni. At the post Langue d'Or and Broiefield were together about a neck in frdht of Arco. They covered the last three in 40 2-5, the mile in 1.46 2-5, and the last six in 1.20. Imperial (D. Collins) worked alone 1 over seven. W'ithout apparent eft'ort he r.eached the three in 51 2-5 and was home in 41, to complete in 1.32- 2-5. It was an impressive gallop. Gay Stroller (S. Waddell) sprinted six on his own and he pulled very hard all the way, being timed to run the full distance in 1.18 4-5, and the last five in 1.5, which was good. S. Waddell will ride Gay Stroller in the Thompson. Specialist (Broughton) sprinted live furlongs, with My Fox going with him for two furlongs and Filature for the other three. Specialist travelled very smoothly and he was timed to breal
40 for the last three and to take 1.5 4-5 for the full- journey. Other gallops noted included those of Gay Flame (Rout), wjiich just beat Glen Urquhart (L. J.
