Received Thursdav, 11.5 o.m. "CANBERRA, Mar. 6. Mr. Chifley qnd his government todav scored an overwhelining win on the Bretton Woods issue against members of his own party. By 33 votes to 21 the Federal Parliamentary Labour Party endorsed ratiiication of the agreement. The Government poliey has been in aecorrl with ratification but strong opposition has been met from Ministers and Labour members headed by the Minister of Transport, Mr. Ward. The issue has been six times before caucua for diseussion. 4 A motion that legislation should go to Parliament on a non-party basis with Labour members free to vote as they pleased, was defeated on voices. Another amendment that the whole matter should be referred bac.k to the Federal conferenee of the Labour Part : was lost by 32 to 24. Legislation implementing the agreement will now be prepared and presented to Patliameni. The management of the international monetary fund will be notified im mediately that Australia intends be coming a member.
