BUSY TIME AHEAD

MARCHING TEAMS ACTIVE Marching teams in the Horowhenua district have a busy time ahead of them for the next few weeks, as their Saturdays for the remainder of this month are.fully occupied. Horowhenua will be represented t the Pahiatua championships" cn Saxurday by the Caledonian and K.B.H. (LeVto), Manawatu, Textiles and Smith's (Foxton) teams, and vs this will mark their first annearance in open contest/ it will be interesting to see how they perform. fhe two Shannon teams were to to Pahiatua as well, but as the Shannon Hofse Sports Club had asked for a display to be staged during the course of the day, the Shannon girls decided to stay at home and assist their kindred organisation, a very fine gesture on thfiir Dart.

Shannon will be treated to a display by all the Horowhenua teams on Saturday, March 15, when a pre-championship exhibition will be held there to give the teams the benefit of an extra appearance before the public. The biggest day in the association's short history will be on Saturday, March 22, when teams from all over the province will compete for championship honours on the Levin Park Domain, commencing at 1 p.m. One of the highlights of the afternoon will be a grand march past of all teams, and a serpentine march when over 200 girls will combine in a display never seen in the Horowhenua before. The splash of colour as the girls in their various uniforms intermingle will be a sight worth seeing by all. The association wishes to puhlicly acknowledge a donation of £2 2s from Cyclax (N.Z.) Ltd., who also sent their best wishes for a successful championship meeting. Anyone wishing to make donations may do so by posting direct to the secretary, Box 19, Levin, or by leaving same at "The Chroni-ele" office. The list of donations is as follows : Previously acknowledged £7 10s 6d, Cyclax (N.Z.) Ltd. £2 2s; total £9 12s 6d.
